TSG Hoffenheim – Justin Signed One-Year

Bundesliga club TSG have prematurely extended the contract of defender Justin Hoogma by an extra year. The deal will now run until 30 June 2022. At the same time, an agreement was reached for the 22-year-old Dutchman to remain on loan at Dutch top-flight club FC Utrecht next season.

“We have agreed to grant Justin’s express request here and totally support this path after analysing the situation together. Furthermore, we have had outstanding experiences in the past when it comes to loan deals over a period of two years, as the developments of Kevin Akpoguma and Joelinton demonstrated in exemplary and impressive fashion,” said TSG Hoffenheim director of football Alexander Rosen.

The 22-year-old, who moved to TSG Hoffenheim in 2017, has established himself as an undisputed starter for FC Utrecht and made 28 out of a possible 30 appearances (one goal). Before the season was called off due to corona in April, Utrecht sat sixth in the Dutch top flight and were on track for Europe. The club had also reached the cup final. “In light of this special situation due to the long corona break, I’m convinced an additional year at FC Utrecht will do me good and provide me with additional stability, match practice and experience,” said Hoogma.

The Netherlands U21 international joined TSG Hoffenheim from Heracles Almelo ahead of the 2017/18 campaign and has made two Bundesliga appearances for the Kraichgau club. The centre-back additionally featured once in the UEFA Champions League, twice in the UEFA Europa League and once in the DFB Cup.
